Fire crews put out blaze at Aberdeen high school

Nobody is thought to be injured

Fire crews were called to a fire at Northfield Academy in Aberdeen on Monday 22 March.

There were reports of a 'huge explosion' and black smoke could been seen from across the city.

Scottish Fire & Rescue service were called to the scene at 13:43, to reports of a fire on the roof of the Academy.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.43pm on Monday, March 22 to reports of a fire at Northfield Academy, Granitehill Place, Aberdeen.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances and one aerial rescue pump to the scene.

“Crews are currently still in attendance.

“There are no reported casualties at this time.”

A spokesperson from Aberdeen City Council said: "Due to a fire at Northfield Academy, the school has been evacuated.

"Arrangements are being made for pupils to go home."
