Family pay tribute to 'much loved' Aberdeenshire man

An Aberdeenshire man who was knocked down by a car has been described as having a "huge heart" by his family.

Mark Smith, of Torphins, died following the collision which happened at around 10.15pm on Saturday, 28 April.

The accident took place on the A980 Alford to Torphins road at the Craigievar Community Hall.

In a statement his family said: "Mark was a much loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, boyfriend and pal to so many.

"He had a huge heart, he was cheeky, funny and so loveable which made Mark great to be around.

"As a family we would like to thank everyone for all their support and loving and kind words about Mark."

Tributes have been flooding in as friends and family remember Mark on social media.

Scott Mowat said: "Rest in peace min, still don’t believe this is real. Feels like last week we where just at college, won’t be the same without you min, gonna miss you!!"

Cammy Pearson added: "We did have some great memories together and with the whole group you will be missed sparky you really will."
