The family of a woman who died following a car crash on Sunday has said they "absolutely devastated''.

The family of a woman who died following a car crash on Sunday has said they "absolutely devastated''.

Helen Thorley, 50, from Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, was killed in the two-car crash on the B9170 Inverurie to Oldmeldrum road.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Ms Thorley's family said: "We are absolutely devastated at the loss of our mum who was a much-loved daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

"We will support each other as a family and ask that we are left alone to grieve.''

The incident happened shortly before midday and involved a silver Volkswagen Jetta and a blue Ford Fiesta.

Police have asked anyone who saw either of the two vehicles prior to the crash, or anyone who stopped to offer help, to contact them on 101.
