WATCH: Aberdeen's Paralympic Gold hero's parents "bursting with pride"
Neil Fachie and wife Lora both smashed records to take home gold in the cycling.
Neil Fachie's parents Stan and Linda say they are "bursting with pride" after the Aberdonian secured another Paralympic gold this year in Tokyo in the men’s B 1000m.
Fachie and pilot Matt Rotherham came in at just over 58 seconds.
And just moments later Neil's wife Lora smashed another record in the women’s B 3000m to earn her own gold.
Neil and his parents have been speaking to Nortsound Sports Editor Dave Galloway:
On watching his Wife win just moments after his own success, Neil told us:
"I was in track centre, still recovering from my ride, breathing heavy and could barely stand.
"I was roaring her to victory.
"After that I didn't actually get to see her for a good 30 minutes or so because we were kinda being shepherded around to podiums and all sorts of things.
"Finally we were able to get a moment, I gave her a hug and she just said to me 'We've done it' and then she burst into tears and I of course struggled as well."
Neil's Mum said:
"I thought I had a heart attack at some point it was so exciting, it's just hard to describe.
"I guess in your wildest dreams you could imagine where he's got to.
"Yeah we saw him as an athlete and thought maybe he'd win Scottish titles or something.
"He's got that grit and determination"
His Dad Stan said:
"I played a lot of sports but he's surpassed anything I did.
"I couldn't tie his shoelaces, he's just a different league altogether.
"He's a winner."
