A North East schoolboy has thanked a taxi driver for saving his day when his wheelchair stopped moving

Ethan Allan's wheelchair stopped moving outside Union Square on Monday evening - leaving him totally immobile.

The 14-year-old Ellon Academy pupil could have missed his weekly practise while waiting for a police officer or paramedic to come and help him.

His family say that they could not get him back into their car as the vehicle was too far away.

Fortunately, Ethan was moving again after a driver waiting at the train station approached the family and managed to get the wheel off the chair so that it could be cleaned and refitted.

It meant that the family could still go for dinner as planned and get to the basketball session at the Aberdeen Beach Leisure Centre on time.

Our reporter Phil McDonald went to meet Ethan at his home in Toll of Birness.

Ethan's mum Jeanette has expressed her gratitude to the man who helped her son.

She has described the taxi driver who helped her as being short man of medium build, bald with a short beard.

He was driving an SUV style vehicle and was at the rank outside Aberdeen's train station at around 5:30pm on Monday 14th November, 2016.

Ethan and his family would like to say thank you again, in person.
