Three French students are speaking exclusively to Northsound News about the moment they almost drowned in the River Dee.

Madeleine Murray, 20, Elisa Ossir, 21, and Laure Pontet, 20, hit a tree branch when they were sailing their dinghy - they were knocked into the water.

They did manage to get themselves out of the river - even making an attempt to rescue the boat.

Madeleine (centre), is a student at the University of Aberdeen, with Elisa and Laure making the trip to the North East on a one week visit.

The women, originally from the South East town of Avignon in France say they didn't realise just how much danger they were in at the time.
