Eurovision superfan: "TECA is probably the best arena in Europe to stage Eurovision"
The BBC confirmed that the UK will host the 2023 song contest
A Eurovision superfan says that TECA is potentially the best arena in the entire continent to host the song contest.
The BBC have confirmed that it will be coming to the UK next year, with cities such as Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Aberdeen expected to submit bids to host it.
Born and raised Aberdonian Kevin Sherwin has been to 23 song contests from Ireland to Israel, though says his home city is best placed to host the next edition.
"We have an arena that has everything under one roof - we've got the concert hall, we've also got the exhibition halls in the same arena for the press centre.
"The other great thing is that we've got 2000 hotel beds within 15 minutes drive of the arena, so the artists are not going to be spending an hour or two hours sitting on a bus going to the arena.
"It's not interfering with anything in the city so there'll be no problems with traffic and road closures.
"So it's probably the best arena, maybe not only in Britain, but probably in Europe, to stage such an event like the Eurovision Song Contest."
A bidding process will begin this week for the right to host the contest, with the BBC and European Broadcast Union (EBU) publishing a list of bidders later this summer.
A date for the song contest has yet to be announced, though it usually takes place in May each year.
