Police and the ambulance service attended a property in Hunter Place in Stonehaven earlier following reports of a disturbance.

They received the call at 12.40pm this afternoon.

During the incident, officers discharged a firearm and deployed a taser on a 31-year-old man. He was arrested and taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with minor injuries.

Chief Superintendent Kate Stephen said: “Officers will be in the area as enquiries are carried out.

"I want to reassure the public that this was a contained incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

"Anyone with any concerns or information should speak to officers who will remain in the area this evening, or contact police via 101.”

A significant section of the road was blocked off earlier, with drivers unable to access nearby Burnside Place.
