The number of people caught driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Aberdeen has fallen by 23 percent over the festive period. A total of 52 people were caught this year, compared to 68 during the same period last year.

This is despite the new lower drink drive limit of 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood beginning on December 5th.

Police Scotland is still highlighting the importance of not driving too soon the morning after consuming alcohol.

Out of 19 people caught drink driving in Aberdeenshire and Moray, four of these were individuals who had been stopped between 6am and 10am, and were found to still be over the legal drink-drive limit.
