Driver clocked at twice the speed limit in Tullos
A driver's been caught doing more than twice the speed limit in a 40 zone in Aberdeen.
This happened around 8.30pm on Tuesday night, 16th October on West Tullos Road, with the car clocked at 84 miles per hour.
A 28 year old man's been charged in connection with dangerous driving - he'll appear in court at a later date.
Road Policing Sergeant Stuart Lawrence said: "It goes with saying that travelling at high speeds can have catastrophic consequences and is totally unacceptable.
“Driving at such speeds significantly reduces your ability to react to unexpected changes in road conditions and puts other road users at serious risk.
“Both Road Policing and Community Policing Teams will continue to carry out dedicated operations to detect and deter such offences in our communities.
“It is disappointing that drivers are willing to put themselves and others at such risk, especially when convictions for road traffic offences like this can result in a fine, penalty points, disqualification or even imprisonment. Road safety is a priority for Police Scotland, and we continue to encourage drivers to take responsibility for their driving.
" I would also ask anyone with concerns regarding the manner of someone’s driving to contact Police as a matter of urgency on 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency."
