Double dose of good news for Ardoe House
After the iconic North East venue announced it's re-opening earlier today, they'll now get to double weddings capacities as we move to Level 1 Covid restrictions.
It's been a day of good news for iconic North East venue Ardoe House.
The hotel and spa closed in November last year, entering liquidation, and throwing the buildings' future into doubt.
But today the venue has announced it will re-open on the 14th of June, under the ownership of 7H.
And the good news keeps coming, after Nicola Sturgeon announced Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire are moving down to Level 1 of Covid restrictions as of Saturday.
The change means the maximum capacity of a wedding doubles, from 50 to 100.
Hotel Manager Chris Hodgens told Northsound that the move means Ardoe can serve events closer to what they would usually see.
He said:
"Absolutely thrilled to be able to announce the re-opening of Ardoe, It's a tough year, but it's great to be able to have some good news at the end of it, and to re-open such a historic hotel in Aberdeen.
"50 was pretty tight, the average wedding we hold at Ardoe would be about the 100-120, so it's far better in line with the amount of guests people normally invite to their wedding."
Covid figures have been looking healthy in as of late, today no fresh cases were reported in Aberdeen City, with just two recorded in Aberdeenshire in the past 24 hours.
Hodgens says that gives businesses confidence that we are getting back to normal.
He said:
"It gives us the confidence are back to normal, with the cases remaining low in the local area.
"Just hope everyone sticks to the rules and it stays that way."
