Aberdeen's new bridge opens today.

Local primary school kids have chosen the official name of the £22.3 million Third Don Crossing - the Diamond Bridge.

And they've been getting special lessons on road safety because of the increased traffic in the area.

It's cost an estimated £3 million more than the original budget, and it was scheduled to open months ago.

Council bosses hope the crossing - which links Bridge of Don and Tillydrone - will ease traffic around Aberdeen.

The Diamond Bridge officially opens to cars later this afternoon - so if you were planning on going that way to get to work this morning you'll need to use your usual route.
