A "few thousand pounds of damage" was caused to Pittodrie's Merkland Stand at last Thursday's game with breidablik, according to the Aberdeen Chairman Dave Cormack.

A picture posted to his Twitter feed shows a supporter holding a piece of a folding chair aloft.

He added to the Twitter thread, saying:

"7k cameras can zoom in & identify anything in the stadium. Yes some damage was exuberance… most certainly not all of it.

"A fan ended up in an ambulance. We want people to be safe. EVERY seat is checked for safety so if any seat you find is not safe tell a steward immediately."

Fans have been encouraged to buy tickets in the 'red shed' in order to create an atmosphere at games.

Cormack praised the noise made by the supporters packed into the stand, but urged 'self-policing' to stop damage to the club's property.
