A cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries after an accident involving a car in Aberdeenshire.

A cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries after an accident involving a car in Aberdeenshire.

The collision happened near the village of Alford on Saturday, December 24.

It involved a silver Renault Clio driven by a 35-year-old man and a 28-year-old male cyclist.

The cyclist was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where police say he is being treated for serious injuries.

Police Scotland have appealed for information following the accident, which happened at 4.30am on the A944 near the Mill of Bandley junction.

Sergeant Rob Warnock, from the Road Policing Unit, said:

I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or came across it or saw the silver Renault Clio or the male cyclist prior to the incident to contact Police Scotland.''
