This year's World Mixed Curling Championship in Aberdeen has been cancelled.

World Curling says October's tournament now can't take place due to scheduling issues.

The Governing body's issued a statement : "Following further consultations, the decision to cancel was taken due to the impact on the early months of the 2021–2022 season caused by rescheduled events from the 2020–2021 season.

It was felt appropriate to cancel the championship to allow athletes and Member Associations to focus their efforts on the European Curling Championships C-Division and the Pre-Olympic Qualification Event, in what are still expected to be challenging times for hosting events.

The World Mixed Curling Championship will return to Aberdeen, Scotland in October 2022."
