An Australian couple that found a 1971 message in a bottle that washed up on a Peterhead beach earlier this week, have traced its owner.
Earlier this week, Shelley and Shaun Thomas, from Brisbane, stumbled across the note when walking along Rattray Head Beach.
It appeared to be wrriten by a 14-year-old boy named Raymond Davidson, from Carlisle, in 1971.
The couple then launched a massive social media capaign, and made it their mission to trace Mr Davidson, before they returned to Australia on Sunday.
Then after two days, Raymond's daughter got in contact with the couple, and after confirming it was his letter, they arranged to meet at a local pub in Carlisle last night (WED 17 JUNE).
There they handed back the message in the bottle, which turns out Raymond has no memory of throwing in the water!
Our reporter Hope Webb spoke to Shelley Thomas, and asked her what is was like to meet Raymond.
