National & International:

Over half a million people worldwide now have, or have had, coronavirus.

A total of 11,658 people in the UK have been confirmed to have the virus, with 578 deaths - the first time the death toll in the country has risen by triple digits.

The chancellor Rishi Sunak held the daily update at Downing Street - he focused on the self-employed.

Sunak announced 95% of all self-employed will benefit from their new scheme.

Those who qualify will be contacted by HRMC and asked to fill in a form. They'll be entitled to 80% of their average profits - up to £2,500 a month.

The Chancellor expects the scheme to begin by June, with payment backdated to cover March, April and May.
