Oil frim Conoco Phillips is to cut around 50 positions offshore positions.

The company announced today that they are to offer voluntary redundancy to all UK offshore staff.

It comes as they move into decommissioning stage on their Viking operations, and begin equal time rota.

In a statement, the firm said: "ConocoPhillips is in the process of transitioning to a decommissioning model for our Viking operations in the Southern North Sea and in connection with this transition we will be implementing an equal time rota at our offshore Viking facilities and at our onshore Theddlethorpe gas terminal.

"We have launched an ‘expression of interest process’ to allow ConocoPhillips offshore and terminal staff to express interest in being considered for voluntary redundancy. As a result, we estimate that there will be a reduction of approximately 50 positions across our offshore and Theddlethorpe operations, which will be split between ConocoPhillips and contractor personnel."
