Condition Of Bon Accord Baths Not As Bad As Feared After Campaign Group Gain Access

Bon Accord Baths, the campaign group fundraising to re-open the prestigious Bon Accord Baths, have gained access to the site, and believe it is in a better condition than previously thought.

The Baths were opened in 1940, and at the time were seen as a defiance against Hitler, as they came just weeks after 34 people were killed in a bombing raid on Aberdeen.

Sadly the doors had to be closed in 2008 due to Council budget cuts.

But the group are now raising money to send in a surveyor to assess the site, with the long term goal of buying the building off of Aberdeen City Council.

Since its closure, there have been break ins, a fire, and fears of asbestos, leading the group to believe the building was in a desperate condition.

However, atfer gaining access today, they have now seen that it is in better condition than previously thought, making their campaign alot stronger.
