A concert organised by Ukrainian musician Nataliia Naismith and Aberdeen City Orchestra conductor Gareth John has raised over £4,000 for the National Bank of Ukraine.

The concert took place on Saturday at Fraserburgh South Church with over 200 people in attendance.

Donations came in from across the region, including local school St. Andrews, whose donation contributed to the overall total of £4221.30.

Nataliia said: “Words can’t express my gratitude.

"Any amount of money raised is fantastic, but the total collected exceeds my wildest expectations.

"This concert and all fundraising activity give the Ukrainian people hope and comfort they are not alone.

"People in Scotland have shown such generosity, I can’t thank them enough.”

The National Bank of Ukraine is providing humanitarian assistance to people in the country following Russia's invasion on the 24th of February.

Nataliia told Northsound that after posting the event on her Facebook, she's been receiving letters from friends and family in her home country thanking the region for their support.

"One of my friends from back home said: 'Thank you to all involved, musicians and audience, absolutely everyone.

'Even though Ukraine and Scotland is thousands of kilometres away form each other it is so important us to know that you remember us, that you care and that you support us'".
