A popular Aberdeen bar has announced that rising energy costs have forced them to close their doors with "immediate effect".

The Clifton Bar, found on Clifton Road behind the Northern Hotel, said in a post on Facebook that they've been left with "no other option".

It comes just a month after the Northern Hotel announced that they would be closing for the same reasons.

The post on Facebook reads: "It's a sad day today... unfortunately as of today the Clifton Bar has had to close with immediate effect.

"The energy costs have just made it impossible for business to keep going.

"We have tried our best and gotten through some rough times but unfortunately there is just no other option anymore.

"We are all absolutely devastated by this news and are sad to say that any events planned have been cancelled with immediate effect.

"Thank you to all our loyal customers for their support through the years.

"We will miss you all."
