City Council make case for Aberdeen to remain on Level 2
We will find out tomorrow if Aberdeen City and Shire could potentially be moved to level 3 - with some suggestion it's under consideration.
Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Douglas Lumsden has told Northsound that the Council have made the case to the Scottish Government for the city to remain at Level 2 of Covid restrictions.
He said:
"This afternoon we met John Swinney to discuss what level Aberdeen should be."
"There has been some people from public health saying that Aberdeen should be moving to tier 3"
"But we've made the case to the Deputy First Minister, that when you look at the data, and consider the economic harms, there is a clear case for Aberdeen to be remaining at Tier 2"
"We've sent further information to the depute First Minister, and he's assured us that it will be taken into consideration before the cabinet make a decision tomorrow."
Earlier at her daily briefing, the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said a close eye was being kept on Aberdeenshire.
Of course we know for previous comments from Nicola Sturgeon that both Council areas are rather likely to move hand-in-hand due to the level of travel, especially for work, between the two.
