More than 150 vehicles were stopped on the A90 in Aberdeenshire and Tayside over the weekend in a coordinated operation by Police Scotland Road Policing officers targeting road traffic offences.

The operation on Saturday 10 March and Sunday 11 March 2018, involved multiple units being deployed on the A90 between Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire, to south of Perth in Tayside.

Officers recovered controlled drugs, arrested a man on an outstanding warrant and seized eight vehicles. In the region of 100 road traffic offences were detected.

Road Policing Sergeant Steve Manson who led the operation said: "This type of route enforcement on a large scale is now becoming a regular tactic and will continue over the course of the year.

"The A90 is a key route in the north east and regularly features in our collision statistics. By providing a large presence on a single route over a 130 mile stretch of road, our goal is to influence driver and road user behaviour, reduce road casualties and detect and deter all types of criminality on our roads."
