A man is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today after drugs with a street value topping £5,000 were found in Newmachar.

Police raided a property in the Broomhill Close area of Kingseat yesterday, Tuesday December 5, 2017, where a significant amount of cannabis was recovered along with a low three figure sum of cash.

A 21-year-old man from the area was subsequently detained and charged in connection with the recovery and is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today, Wednesday December 6.

Detective Sergeant Sam Buchan said: "A significant amount of controlled drugs have once again been seized in the North East which could have ended up in our communities.

"I would like to thank local residents for their patience while this activity was carried out yesterday and would also continue to urge anyone with concerns about drug misuse where they live to let us know.

"Proactive action is carried out every day across the region to tackle the sale and supply of illegal substances and we rely on information and intelligence from the public to ensure we target our resources to the right places and at the right times.
