Doctor Pete Cheema is the Chief Executive of Scottish Grocers Federation.
He told Northsound 1: "We will continue to follow the rules and guidance around the Scottish Government's rules on exemption for self-isolation, but we do need help to reduce the number of days workers have to isolate.
"It is having a huge effect on our industry.
"People don't understand that this has had a knock on effect in terms of bringing food in, getting it on the shelves and these are the big issues retailers are facing."
