Aberdeen boxing club launches free to attend classes across the city
Byron Boxing have reached out to over 50 children in little more than a week
Byron Boxing Club have launched a new program that allows kids to attend classes across the city for free.
The mobile boxing gym was funded by Cash for Kids, allowing the gym to buy boxing gloves, punch bags and various other pieces of equipment necessary for training.
"Every venture that we've done Cash for Kids have backed us, like equipment in our gym in Northfield - they bought our first boxing ring", said coach Kevin Kerr.
"And since then we've grown over the last 12 years.
"We're now reaching out into the community, delivering sessions in Seaton, Tillydrone, Tory and soon to be Aboyne over the summer as well."
Boxing is a tool that's been used to teach discipline, anger management and teamwork, whilst any free to attend classes are vital to ensuring children stay out of crime.
Coach Kerr added: "Boxing reduces antisocial behavior in the communities. Generally when the boxing is on at our gym in Northfield, we find that that reduces the crime in that area that night.
"So obviously we've reached out in these low-income areas (Seaton, Tillydrone, Torry) and hopefully we can try and spread some positivity through the city."
Classes currently run on at George Street football pitches on Tuesdays at 6PM and Tillydrone Community Hub on Fridays at 4PM.
