The police are investigating a "brutal" assault in the Kittybrewster area of Aberdeen on Boxing Day.

A 21 year old man was assaulted outside of a bar on Clifton Road at 11:15pm on Friday and suffered facial injuries.

Officers are particularly keen to speak with a man who is described as having a stocky build, 175 to 180 cm in height, bald with a fair coloured beard and possibly a facial piercing. He was wearing dark blue coloured jeans with a yellow/green coloured pull over. The individual was in the company of three other men.

Constable Karl Sternad, who is investigating this case, said: "This attack was utterly unprovoked, random and brutal in nature, committed against an innocent member of the public walking home.

"I ask that anyone with information on this crime contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous."
