Police searching for missing Aberdeen woman Moira Morrison have discovered a body.

The 62-year-old was reported missing on Tuesday afternoon - she'd been walking on the footpath by the River Dee behind Sainsbury's.

There has been a huge police search in the area - a helicopter, the inshore lifeboat, kayakers and a dog unit were are involved.

But this morning a body was spotted in the river - it was recovered with help from a lifeboat crew and a police diving team.

Formal identification hasn't taken place, but the family of Mrs Morrison are being kept up to date.

Inspector Steve McEwan, who has been leading the search operation, said: "I can confirm that a body was discovered in the River Dee area at around 10.30am this morning. A recovery operation was launched with assistance from the Police Scotland dive unit and RNLI inshore lifeboat.

"Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of Moira has been updated and we are liaising closely with them.

"Further information will be released when available."
