Scottish beauticians re-open as more lockdown restrictions are lifted

The latest easing of lockdown restrictions means beauticians in Scotland are back in businesses.

Personal retail services can re-open from Wednesday, so long as they have enhanced hygiene measures in place, as part of the Scottish Government guidelines.

The category for close contact services includes make-up and nail salons, spas, tattoo studios, dress fitters, tailors, indoor photography studios and shoe fitters.

It comes a week after hairdressers, barber shops and other similar businesses were allowed to open.

Universities and colleges will also be allowed to begin a phased return to on-campus learning as part of a blended model with remote teaching.

Public health measures including physical distancing will remain in place for campuses but Wednesday will bring no change to the number of households or people who can meet outdoors or indoors.

A household can meet up to four other households outdoors at a time, up to 15 people in total, or up to two other households indoors - up to eight people in total.

Motorcycle instruction and theory tests, as well as tractor driver instruction, can also resume from Wednesday.

There are no dates as yet for the return of driving lessons and practical tests.

Others area waiting to hear about changes are live events in outdoor and indoor venues and theatres, bingo halls, nightclubs, casinos, other entertainment venues, non-essential offices, indoor gyms and amateur contact sports outdoors for adults.

Updates on these are not expected before July 31 when the next review is due to take place.
