The trial of a teenager accused of murdering a schoolboy got underway in Aberdeen today.

16 year old Bailey Gwynne died after being injured at Cults Academy last October.

Another 16 year old boy has been charged with his murder.

He's accused of striking Bailey on the body with a knife.

He's also charged with two counts of carrying knives and knuckledusters on school property on various occassions dating back more than two years - he denies all the charges.

As many as sixteen child witnesses are expected to give evidence.

Cults Academy headteacher Anna Muirhead gave gevidence first. She was alerted to a fight in the main corridor at lunch.

She ran out to main corridor of Cults Academy where she found Bailey seriously injured, and the accused upset.

She told the jury that both Bailey and the accused were both quiet but had good group of friends.

Ms. Muirhead later revealled she had spoken to the accused at least two years prior to the incident, about the dangers of weapons.

After the incident, at lunchtime, she found the accused "curled up" on seats "distraught and agitated".

After the incident, the accused told the Headteacher: "Just take me to the Police."

The trial is expected to last around five days.
