Balfour Beatty have announced the AWPR is now due to be completed in the summer.

The massive project had been meant to open this spring, but work has been hit by the collapse of one of the three companies involved in building it.

Balfour Beatty say Carillion going into liquidation has cost them £44 million pounds.

The admission has come in the company's annual profits report, but it is not clear if the construction giant had informed the Scottish Government that the AWPR completion timetable had been pushed back.

A Scottish Government spokesman said:

“The Scottish Government continues to have discussions with Aberdeen Roads Limited (ARL) in order to achieve an agreed date for the earliest possible completion of this project, despite the recent insolvency of Carillion. We expect these to conclude shortly and will provide a full update to Parliament at that time."
