Aberdeen FC Women have extended their lead at the top of the SWPL 2 to eight points, after thrashing Stirling University 7-0.

After almost six months out of action due to Covid restrictions, the top against bottom clash at a sunny Cormack Park gave the Dons the opportunity to get back on track.

The return to action will see Emma Hunter and Stuart Bathgate's side play each team in the division once more, in the span of a month, to see out the campaign.

The aim for the Dons is to secure top spot, and with it a second consecutive league title and promotion to the top tier.

Six of the goals came in the first half, Eva Thomson scoring twice, with goals also coming from Francesca Ogilvie, Chole Gover, Bailley Collins and the league's top goalscorer Bayley Hutchison.

Left-back Jenna Penman added the 7th early in the second half.
