Female driver killed in Aberdeenshire crash named by police

A woman who died in a crash involving a car and a van has been named by police.

Maureen Davidson, from Mintlaw, died at the scene on the A98 near Craigmaud, Aberdeenshire, at about 5pm on April 1.

Police said the 61-year-old had been driving an Audi Q5 car.

Her family have asked for privacy.

The three people in the Ford Transit van, all male, were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Sergeant Dave Cooper said: "Our thoughts are with Maureen's family during this incredibly difficult time.

"Our inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing and I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was travelling on the A98 around the time of the crash, especially if they have dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation."

The road was closed for about 10 hours while investigations took place.
