Aboyne care home evacuated as 'substantial fire' breaks out

Over 40 residents had to be evacuated from an Aberdeenshire care home, after a fire broke out on Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived around to Alastrean House facility around 3:50pm on Ssaturday 2nd January in Tarland near Aboyne to battle what Scottish Fire and Rescue has described as a 'substantial blaze'.

Crews managed to extinguish the flames just before 8pm last night.

No one was injured and care home residents have been re-housed in a separate wing of the facility.
