Aberdeenshire cyclist killed after collision with two cars

Robert Cowie from Boddam died after the incident.

Police Scotland can confirm that the cyclist who died on the A90 on Wednesday 2 December was Robert Cowie, 52, from Boddam.

The incident happened about 2.30pm near Boddam and involved two other vehicles - a grey Seat Ateca car and a white Volkswagen Crafter van.

Neither of the drivers involved were injured.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers are providing support to Mr Cowie's family.

Sergeant Craig McNeill of the Road Policing Department said: "Our thoughts are with everyone affected and particularly with Robert's family and friends.

"I would urge anyone who may have information about the collision and has not already spoken to officers to contact police as soon as possible.

"We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who saw Robert cycling southwards on the A90 around the time of the collision.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident number 1710 of 2 December."
