Aberdeenshire Boy, 11, Killed In A90 Van Crash Named
An 11-year-old boy who died after being hit by a van on a dual carriageway has been named by police.
Bobby Douglas, from Newtonhill, was crossing the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road near the Aberdeenshire village when he was struck at around 6.20pm yesterday.
He died from his injuries at Aberdeen Children's Hospital, Police Scotland confirmed.
Road policing sergeant Steve Milne has appealed for anyone who witnessed thecollision to come forward.
He said: It is vital that we piece together what has happened. Witness accounts are key to this and a full investigation into the circumstances is now under way.''
The road was closed for about five hours and diversions were put in place as accident investigators attended the scene.
Meanwhile, in Aberdeen, a motorist was seriously hurt when his car left the road.
Wellington Road was shut following the accident at around 7.25pm yesterday.
