Aberdeenshire beer company offers Paw-ternity leave
BrewDog staff given one week's paid leave to look after new puppies
If you’re getting ready to welcome the pitter-patter of tiny paws, you might be worried about having the time to settle your new addition in the family home.
But don’t worry, Aberdeenshire brewery BrewDog’s now offering a week’s paid “paw-ternity” leave for staff. It’s the first beer company in the UK to offer the perk.
The Ellon-based company was launched in 2007, by James Watt and Martin Dickie, with the help of pup Bracken – and now they want to show just how dog friendly they are, by offering the paid leave to staff welcoming brand new puppies or rescue dogs into their lives.
BrewDog co-founder and dog lover, James Watt said:
“It’s not easy trying to juggle work and settle a new dog into your life, and many members of our crew have four-legged friends at home. So we wanted to take the stress out of the situation and let our teams take the time they need to welcome their new puppy or dog into their family. We always want to raise the bar when it comes to offering our staff the best possible benefits; at BrewDog, we care about two things above all else. People and beer. We also just really really like dogs.’
Dogs are also allowed to help their owners at work – with pooches welcome at the company’s offices and bars.
