Aberdeen's triple signing

Don of a new era for 3 players

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has continued his summer transfer dealings after signing up two new goalkeepers.

Former Rangers and Hearts custodian Neil Alexander checked into Pittodrie late on Wednesday night, just hours after fellow shot-stopper Joe Lewis had also signed.

McInnes has now added five new faces to his squad.

Released Dundee United defender Callum Morris has also made the switch to the Granite City following the earlier captures of frontmen Jayden Stockley and Miles Storey.

Before making their double goalkeeping swoop, the Reds had only Danny Rodgers - who spent last season on loan at Falkirk - for cover between the posts after both Scott Brown and Adam Collin were allowed to leave at the end of the season.

Now 38-year-old Alexander, capped three times for Scotland, is looking forward to working with his new boss.

He told RedTV: My agent was in contact with a lot of teams and Aberdeen were one of them, and I am lucky that the manager had a bit of interest in me and pursued it.

I think as a squad Aberdeen have an all-round strength, and as a team they're good going forward, solid at the back. I've always been impressed by them and was whenever I played against Aberdeen last season.

From those games I know they counter attack really well, have loads of pace, get the ball in the box and cause you problems. They are an attractive team to watch and score goals.

As a club they have done really well for themselves over the last couple years.

And Aberdeen have a fantastic manager in Derek McInnes and I'm really looking forward to working under him.

There are exciting times ahead at Aberdeen and I am delighted to be part of it.

Recently I've had a couple of good seasons under my belt and I'd like to think I have another couple of years left in me and I want to play. I've came here to do that, the manager knows that and we just have to see what happens.

I've got the opportunity to come here and be involved in European football. I'm grateful to the manager for bringing me here and I am really looking forward to the European games and the start of the league campaign.''
