Aberdeen was the top Scottish location for online shopping on Black Friday this year.

The Granite City ranked the top of the Scottish list - and 6th overall in the UK.

The list is created according to records of items accepted into the Royal Mail network on Friday and Saturday last week.

Some of the other top Scottish towns and cities included, Perth, Inverness and Dumfries.

The rankings are based on the destination for delivery on an acceptance scan.

Rob Jenson, Operations Director for the North region of Royal Mail, said: "Last weekend a huge volume of online purchases were picked, packed, and shipped by retailers around the country. And today, thousands of shoppers across Scotland will be recieving their Black Friday purchases.

Bargain hunters in Aberdeen top the list of this year's biggest Black Friday online shoppers in Scotland. We know there are more parcels still to come, but as of today more addressed in Aberdeen are set to welcome a Black Friday purchase than anywhere in Scotland."

Black Friday, which started in the US, is now regarded as the start of the Christmas shopping season.
