Aberdeen City Council are organising an emergency summit on the oil and gas industry.

It's believed thousands of jobs are at risk, after a massive fall in the price of oil in recent months.

It's close to half what it was in the summer.

Leader of the City Council, Labour's Jenny Laing says it's about trying to get a bit of stability into the sector.

Her party leader Jim Murphy has already confirmed he'll be attending - First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Prime Minister David Cameron are also being invited.

No date has yet been set.

Oil and Gas UK say if there is going to be a summit, it should be after the New Year.
