Police Scotland have today revealed that Aberdeen's police control room is to close in October.

That means all 999 and 101 calls from the Aberdeen area will then be transferred to national control room in the central belt.

That is after Police Scotland faced much critcism when they failed to respond to a fatal car crash on the M9 last July - in which a couple died.

Police Scotland have also today announced that their Inverness centre will be closing in August.

They say tey "remain committed to protecting" front line delivery and that the "pace of change will be managed in a safe and assured way".

No changes will be implemented until they have been approved by Scottish Police Authority.
