A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a grandmother in Aberdeen.

58-year-old Sherry Bruce was found seriously injured at a flat on Glenbervie Road on Sunday evening - she died at the scene.

A 26-year-old man was also taken to hospital following the incident.

Thai Hoang made no plea at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today and was remanded in custody.

In a statement Ms Bruce's family said:

"She was a kind and caring mum with a soft heart who adored everyone she met.

"She was very family oriented and devoted to her job.

"She was loyal and a wonderful grandmother and will be sorely missed."
