Aberdeen man jailed over brutal knife attack

A man's been jailed for cutting a woman's throat in her Aberdeen home. Alif Miah carried out the attack at his victim's home at a block of flats on Richmond Walk last September. He'd turned up at the 63 year old's door - claiming they knew each other. But after a few drinks, he grabbed the woman's hair and slashed her throat with a knife. A paramedic told the High Court in Edinburgh it was one of the worst injuries he'd ever seen. Today 34 year old Miah's been jailed for 8 years for assault - he'd originally been accused of attempted murder.
