Aberdeen City Council have granted Aberdeen Football Club permission to host full capacity crowds at Pittodrie for the rest of the season.

From Monday clubs are allowed 5,000 supporters at a time, but are able to apply to their local authorities to extend that limit, which AFC have done.

The requirement to socially distance will be lifted from Monday.

Pittodrie can hold around the 20,000 mark when all seats are available.

The next match at Pittodrie is next Thursday (August 12) as the Dons play their second leg tie against Icelandic side Breidablik - they'll take a 3-2 aggregate lead into that game.

But it won't quite be a full house, even if all tickets are sold. Due to UEFA protocols.

The club confirmed to Northsound News yesterday that UEFA will still classify the Main Stand of the Stadium as a 'red zone.

An Aberdeen Spokeswoman said: "We would therefore only be able to sell the wings of the Main Stand i.e. sections A and E/F and the Main Stand boxes."

It won't be until the 28th of this month when the Reds will have their chance to truly host a capacity crowd, as they play Ross County.
