Aberdeen Football Club have lodged a bid with the City Council to see full capacity crowds return to PIttodrie.

The City Council will need to approve the request, and will take the thoughts of stakeholders like NHS Grampian into account.

Council sources have told Northsound News they believe the the request is "highly likely to be given the green light."

We are told a licensing committee will take place at 3pm today (Friday August 6)

The application from the Dons is for all home games for the rest of the season.

Although we understand there would still be some restrictions, imposed by UEFA, that would impact any European matches.

The Main Stand would be designated as a 'red zone' by the footballing body.

An Aberdeen Spokeswoman said: "We would therefore only be able to sell the wings of the Main Stand i.e. sections A and E/F and the Main Stand boxes."

But the club are confident they'd still host a very healthy crowd, even with those restrictions.

Dave Cormack, chairman of Aberdeen Football Club, said: “With the lifting of most restrictions announced by the Scottish Government earlier this week, we have been working closely with Aberdeen City Council and have submitted an application for full capacity for our home games for the rest of the season.

"We are hopeful of a positive decision tomorrow afternoon which will allow us to put tickets on sale online at 6pm tomorrow for the return leg of the Europa Conference League game against Breidablik on 12th of August.”
