Aberdeen Fire Service Praises "The Safest Bonfire Night In Years"

Published 6th Nov 2015

A senior Aberdeen fire officer has praised Aberdonians after what was "one of the safest bonfire nights in years".

Fire crews were called to 28 incidents last night - which is down by 4 calls compared to bonfire night 2014.

Station Manager Gordon Riddel, said: "We were delighted to see communities following our advice to attend organised displays, rather than holding their own bonfires which undoubtedly contributed to the success.

"Bonfire Night 2015 passed without incident and we are delighted with the low number of calls we received.

“SFRS work hard with our partners and communities in the lead up to Bonfire Night every year and we are beginning to see the positive impact of that work. We would like to thank the public for their fantastic support.”
