Aberdeen fans overwhelmingly support new stadium plans
More than 6,500 people responded to Aberdeen FC's survey
Supporters of Aberdeen are overwhelmingly in favour of plans for a new stadium on the beachfront.
The City Centre Masterplan have proposed the new grounds for the Dons on the beachfront as a focal point of the regeneration.
Last week, the club released a survey asking fans for their views on the possibility of leaving Pittodrie, with the response showing that 92% of supporters are in favour of new stadium after more than 6,500 responses.
Commercial Director Rob Wicks has been praising the plans that could benefit the club financially as well as helping the city reach its net-zero targets.
"At a new site that isn’t land-locked or otherwise constrained, we can create new, quality, modern and flexible spaces and facilities that will allow us to not only drive current revenues and generate new revenue streams, but also enable considerably more community-led activity.
"Recognising the urgent need to retain footfall in a city centre devastated by the withdrawl of major retail brands, the Council asked us to explore the potential of remaining in the city.
"Since, then we’ve been working with them, our stadium architects and other specialist consultants on potential designs and an outline business case for a new stadium and community sports complex, incorporating an ice rink and leisure centre".
