Councillor Alan Donnelly's suspension from Aberdeen City Council has been extended by the standards commission.

The ruling, which initially was meant to last three months, was made in March. It followed conviction of the Councillor - who resigned from the Tories in the fallout - for sexual assault.

He was found guilty in December of last year and placed on the sex offenders register.

Donelly also refused calls to stand down from Council duties.

A panel from the commission decided that the suspension was "in the public interest".

It will be reviewed no later than the third of September.

In last year's trial, Donnelly denied he had touched and kissed a man who was working at a city event the Councillor had attended.
