Aberdeen Cocktail Week (ACW) promises that "bars will be shaking up a special menu of cocktails" ahead of the city's first event of its kind in October.

Following in the footsteps of successful cocktail weeks in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland's Third City will be hoping that it can be a timely boost for businesses after the pandemic.

Around 12 local bars have already signed up to be part of the event that runs from October 18 to October 24.

It's expected that many will join them, with wristband holders able to access exclusive recipes and drinks at a discounted price.

Organiser Gregor Sey hopes that the event will make the city a "destination for superb hospitality".

"Aberdeen is home to so many great bars, restaurants and drink brands.

"ACW aims to celebrate what the city has to offer by introducing people to new and exciting venues they may otherwise not visit and making Aberdeen known as a destination for superb hospitality.

"Even though there's been not much build up to this point of launching, we've had great support from venues.

"We've got about 12 definitely confirmed so far. The initial goal was actually for 20 venues, but I think we're going to blow past that at this rate."

One of those bars is Siberia Bar and Hotel on Belmont Street, with owner Stuart McPhee saying it's "about time" a cocktail week came to the city.

“About time, we are incredibly excited to be part of this!

"Aberdeen joins the illustrious destinations that host their own cocktail week. The city has a proud, hard-working and innovative hospitality sector that deserves to be celebrated. "

"We have seen how successful it can be in places like Edinburgh and hopefully, it can bring that success to the granite city and grow in years to come.”
