Aberdeen City Council’s administration has written to the Transport Minister Humza Yousaf for reassurances on progress of the Haudagain Roundabout after the announcement of further delays to the AWPR.

Transport Scotland has confirmed it could be the end of the year before the Aberdeen Bypass fully opens to traffic. Previously, the opening had been slated for Spring 2018.

Councillor Ross Grant the Administrations spokesperson for Transport and Regeneration said “I have today written to the Minister seeking clarity as to when the long awaited Haudagain roundabout works are to commence given the Cabinet Secretary Keith Brown has admitted what everybody already knew that the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route works will not be completed until Autumn 2018 at the earliest.

Councillor Grant added “We have heard many promises from the Scottish Government on the importance of the Haudagain roundabout since 2008 but as yet not one piece of equipment is on the ground signifying the start of the works. Given the Scottish Governments complete failure to deliver this key project on time or on budget my worry is that the latest delays on the AWPR will have implications on when work will commence with the Haudagain Project. Only last Month the Scottish Government were telling the public the work on the Haudagain may start early. The public of Aberdeen have a right to be told by the minister what the AWPR delays will mean for the start of the Haudagain scheme."
